President of the Appeal Court, Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne, has taken the step of recusing himself from hearing the motion filed by Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe to revoke the stay order against the interim Committee for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). This decision comes in the wake of serious allegations leveled against the judge by the Sports Minister during a parliamentary session.

In a dramatic turn of events, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe accused Judge Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne of biased rulings in matters related to Sri Lanka Cricket. The judge's recusal from the case signals a heightened level of controversy surrounding the legal proceedings involving the SLC interim committee.

The Appeal Court had previously issued a 14-day stay order against the interim committee appointed by the Sports Minister. The motion filed by Minister Ranasinghe sought to revoke this stay order.
