In the wake of recent cricketing turmoil, newly appointed Sports Minister Harin Fernando has vowed to collaborate with all stakeholders to resurrect Sri Lanka's cricketing fortunes. Minister Fernando made these declarations while addressing reporters outside the Presidential Secretariat following a Cabinet meeting. His appointment comes in the aftermath of the dismissal of Roshan Ranasinghe by the President, signaling a change in leadership for the nation's sports portfolio.

Speaking to the media, Minister Fernando acknowledged the challenges facing Sri Lanka Cricket and drew attention to his previous tenure in the same role, during which the sport grappled with serious problems related to corruption. However, he asserted that he successfully steered the organization through those difficulties, highlighting his track record of overcoming challenges.

"I am no stranger to challenges," stated Minister Fernando, emphasizing his readiness to confront the issues afflicting Sri Lanka Cricket. He extended an invitation to all parties involved in cricket administration to collaborate with him, underlining the importance of unity and collective effort in restoring the sport to its former glory.
