The Colombo District Court today denied a petition from MP Duminda Dissanayake, seeking an interim injunction to prevent Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe from functioning as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and Attorney-at-Law Keerthi Udawatta as Acting General Secretary.
Duminda Dissanayake, representing a faction supporting Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, filed the petition against the appointments. District Judge Sandun Withana ruled against issuing the injunction, allowing Rajapakshe and Udawatta to continue in their respective roles.
Judge Withana noted that Dissanayake could amend his complaint and substantiate the facts for reconsideration of the injunction.
