Senior Professor Kapila Senevirathne has been appointed as the new Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), following the resignation of Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunga. 

Professor Senevirathne, a respected figure in the academic community, is expected to lead the UGC in addressing pressing issues in higher education and enhancing the quality of university governance.
