Six people, including five men and one woman, have been arrested in connection with a robbery carried out under the pretense of offering a massage service.
The suspects allegedly lured a man with a promise of a massage, only to assault and threaten him at knifepoint, forcing him to transfer Rs. 1 million via online banking. In addition to the online theft, the perpetrators also stole Rs. 15,000 in cash from the victim’s wallet.
The Bambalapitiya Police arrested two suspects, a 44-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, on November 8, along with a three-wheeler used in the crime. Information from these arrests led to the identification and capture of four additional suspects, aged between 19 and 23, from Ratmalana and Mount Lavinia.
