The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) has reported a significant rise in cases involving the use of explicit content online to intimidate and threaten people.
Senior Information Security Engineer Charuka Damunupola said that over 1,100 incidents have been reported this year, with most cases involving threats within romantic relationships.
Victims are advised to collect evidence, including URLs of websites hosting the content, call records, text messages, and screenshots. CERT ensures that complaints lodged with them can lead to the removal of such content from online platforms.
