The Ministry of Public Security has approved Rs. 3 billion to clear overdue food and accommodation allowances for police officers.

Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said that the payments, delayed for over three months due to financial constraints, will begin next week.

Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya says that each officer will receive a minimum of Rs. 28,500 in allowances.
