Narendra Modi Tweets In Sinhala

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today tweeted in Sinhala while extending his wishes to Sri Lanka on its 67th Independence Day.

Modi also said that he was looking forward to welcome Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena in India towards the end of this month. He posted the same message on his official Twitter account in Tamil and English as well.

Narendra Modi is the first foreign head of state who used Sinhala in his official Twitter account.
 
Pope Francis too tweeted in Sinhala last month when he concluded his visit to Sri Lanka.
