The Court of Appeal today (5) barred former LTTE Leader Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP,from leaving the country.
The Court of Appeal made the order following a writ applicationfiled by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath.
The JVP Parliamentarian through his petition sought an investigation into Kumaran Pathmnathan’s assets.
The JVP also questioned as to why former president Mahinda Rajapaksa requested President Maithripala Sirisena to provide KP with full security. Speaking to media at that time, JVP Central Committee member Chandrasekaran said that there were serious doubts arising due to this request.
They said that ‘serious doubts’ were arising on the nature of the relationship Pathmanathan and the Rajapaksa government.
The JVP also alleged that the Rajapaksa family had been given access to the wealth which was said to be under the control of the former LTTE leader.
