Upcountry People's Front stated that it will be contesting under the United National Party ticket in the up coming General Election which is expected later this year.
UPF leader and Education State Minister V. Radhakrishnan disclosed this fact yesterday after meeting with the Chief Prelates of the Siam Nikaya in Kandy.
He said that his party wants to support the government at this juncture, adding that he left the former government in order to support Maithripala Sirisena's presidential campaign.
Adding that the UPF had then negotiated with UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe before defecting to the opposition, Radhakrishnan said that he is willing to work with the UNP in the coming election.
