Former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage vowed to bring President Maithripala Sirisena, former president Mahinda Rajapaksa and former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga to the same stage during the upcoming General Election.
He made this comment speaking to the media after meeting with the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter in the Siam Nikaya Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera.
Aluthgamage said that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will be conducting the election campaign under the leadership of president Maithripala Sirisena, who is also the chairman of the party.
He further stated that the SLFP has to remain united, adding that If it does not happen "all of us will lose." He added that the party cannot disregard anyone at this juncture. Rajapaksa has a large following, and Kumaratunga also has a sizeable following. Meanwhile, Maithripala Sirisena has a following throughout the country. Therefore, if all three are united, the SLFP will be able to form a government in the next election, he added.
Although an election has not been officially announced, the government has said that the parliament will be dissolved on April 23, at the end of the 100 Day Program.
