Former General Secretary of the UNP Tissa Attanayake who was in remand custody was today (11) released by the Fort Magistrate.
The Fort Magistrate released the former UNP General Secretary after demanding two sureties of Rs 1 million.
Attanayake was arrested on February 02 by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the grounds that the former UNP General Secretary presented a false document to media while claiming it was a ‘secret agreement’ between President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Police Media Spokesman told media that in the document, the signatures of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had been forged.
