Politburo Member of Frontline Socialist Party Pubudu Jayagoda told Asian Mirror that they have not yet received an official confirmation about the deportation of Kumar Gunarathnam from the Department of Immigration and Emigration.

"Although they have given statements to the media, the Immigration and Emigration Department never sent any official letter to Comrade Gunarathnam." Jayagoda added.

He said therefore he was not in a position to make any comment on the issue of deportation.

Jayagoda further stated that there was no response for the application they submitted to obtain Sri Lankan citizenship for Gunarathnam on February 06.

"We are trying our best to obtain Sri Lankan citizenship for him," Jayagoda said.

However in a statement to 'Daily Mirror" the Controller of Immigration and Emigration, Nihal Ranasinghe said that Gunarathnam had been told to report to the department of Immigration and Emigration today (19), following yesterday's court order.
