UPFA MP and the leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Dinesh Gunawardena stated that he is opposed to the concept of national government.
Speaking at a press briefing yesterday, attended by Democratic Left Front leader Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila and National Freedom Front media spokesperson M.M. Muzammil, Gunawardena stated that the government should call an election as promised.
The national government concept is a ploy to keep Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in power, Gunawardena added.
Meanwhile, Vasudeva Nanayakkara also said that this was a ploy to keep the United National Party in power. He urged the government to call for an election on April 23 as promised.
He also said that people had given them a mandate at the Nugegoda rally in support of Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Ministerial candidate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
