Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Leader and former minister Dinesh Gunawardena urged the government to publish the proposed constitutional amendment well before it is presented to the parliment.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday, he said constitutional experts, political parties and the general public should be given to expres their feedback on the amendment before it is passed.

The 19th amendment which is expected to curtail the powers of the executive president and change the electorial system has already been delayed according to the 100 Days Programme time table.

The main reason is reported to be the debate on the electorial system.
