Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited, which has been in the news frequently after the change of government on January 8, has ‘forgotten’ to update its website for a long period.
Nearly two months after the fall of the Rajapaksa government, the RALL website still mentions that Mahinda Rajapaksa is President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and that his brother Gotabaya Rajapaksa is Secretary of Defence.
RALL was in the news recently of the alleged malpractices during the former regime. On January 20, Police opened the armory at Rakna Lanka, located within the BMICH. During the second week of February, Criminal Investigations Department questioned former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa over his alleged connections with Rakna Lanka and Avant Garde Security firms.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Ports Authority removed RALL from the security duties in Hambantota Port with effect from this month. RALL employees said it was an act of political revenge.
Established in October 2006 Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited (RALL) is a Sri Lanka Government owned business undertaking in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence “to provide top notch security services to fully address the security needs of the commercial sectors.” It is widely believed that the company named Rakna Arakshaka Lanka is a brainchild of former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
According to its website, its vision is “to institute outstanding security services and instill confidence in our clients that their safety is in the hand of mainstay of security.”
