Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa, second son of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, arrived at the Colombo Crime Division at around 9am today.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana told Asian Mirror that he was asked to come to CCD to record a statement on the single engine plane which was found at the Narahenpita Economic Center.
The single engine plane was found inside a container at Narahenpita Economic Centre on January 13. Police also found a vehicle allegedly belonging to the Carlton Sports Network (CSN), a broadcast truck and two a/c container trucks.
Giving a statement to Narahenpita Police immediately after this discovery, film producer Chandran Ratnam said the plane had belonged to him and he had given it to Yoshitha Rajapaksa when the president's son had asked for it.
When asked as to why it had taken nearly two months after the discovery of the plane for the police to record a statement from Rajapaksa, SSP Rohana said that preliminary inquiries had to be completed beforehand.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa was accompanied by his brother MP Namal Rajapaksa and Members of Parliament Lohan Ratwatte, Uditha Lokubandara and Roshan Ranasinghe.
