China's aid to Sri Lanka's flood relief efforts has arrived and been transferred to their authorities, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced on Thursday.
Xinhua News Agency reported that China delivered 40 diesel motors, 100 water pumps and 25 speedboats to Sri Lanka by air in the first batch of the aid. The second batch, including two large electrical generators, will arrive soon by ship, according to the MOC.
In late last year, torrential rain triggered floods in several regions of the island country and killed more than 30 people.
The Chinese government pledged 20 million yuan (3.26 million U.S. dollars) in humanitarian aid to help Sri Lanka fight the natural disaster.
