Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Leader Western Provincial Councilor Udaya Gammanpila said that at least hundred provincial councilors of United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will attend to ‘Dinu Deshaya Anathure’ rally which is scheduled to be held today (06)
“Most of them are members of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)” he added speaking at a recent press briefing.
There are many MPs and provincial councilors who support Mahinda Rajapaksa for the sake of the country without hoping for any benefit for themselves, Gammanpila said.
“We urge SLFP to name former president as the prime ministerial candidate of the party. The freedom we achieved with sacrificing thousands lives is in a danger. Therefore we need the leadership of the former president to protect the country” Gammanpila declared.
“Dinu Nidahasa Anathure” rally which is scheduled to be held today is the second rally, organized by few parties of UPFA including Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, National Freedom Front, Left Democratic Front and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna.
The inaugural rally was held in Nugegoda on February 18 and organizers are planning to hold the third one in Anuradhapura.
Meanwhile Western Province Chief Minister Prasnna Ranatunga, who said that he will attend the Kandy rally, left the country for Australia suddenly in a trip which he described as unavoidable.
