Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today ordered Colombo Municipal Council Member Mahinda Kahandagamage to be remanded further till March 20.
The Chairman of the Federation of Self Employed Mahinda Kahanda Gamage was arrested by the Fraud Investigation Unit of the Wellawatte police on February 9.
However FSE Secretary Chanaka Ashoka Hettiarachchi and Treasure Kumara de Silva were released on bail, with sureties of Rs 50,000 each. Despite sureties, they were ordered to furnish a bail bond of 5 million.
Chief Magistrate further ordered them to not to enter the office of the federation without prior notice.
Kahandagamage had allegedly swindled money of hundreds of mobile vendors whose money was collected daily as a tax and did not maintain proper record on those monies, police said.
