Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying today (06) urged Sri Lanka to maintain the legitimate interests of Chinese enterprises after the new Sri Lankan government suspended Port City project in Colombo.
Addressing a regular press briefing she further said that China will closely follow the development of the situation.
"We have been informed by the Sri Lankan government of the decision, which stressed the project was 'suspended', not 'cancelled' " she added.
The spokesperson asserted that Sri Lanka should maintain the confidence of Chinese firms those are currently investing in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka government on Wednesday (04) announced that the Cabinet decided to suspend Colombo Port City Project until the special committee headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe released its report.
