Several Western Provincial Council members demanded Sri Lanka Freedom Party leadership to take disciplinary action against Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
Speaking at a media briefing in Kalutara yesterday, UPFA Western Provincial Council Member Piyal Nishantha said that Dr. Senaratne had demanded disciplinary action against SLFP members who had taken part in the rally in support of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa held in Kandy on March 6.
Nishantha said that disciplinary action should be taken against Dr. Senaratne prior to those who took part in the Kandy rally as Senaratne had left the party and then conspired to break it up.
Although SLFP top leadership avoided the rally in Kandy, MP Dilum Amunugama and a number of Provincial Council members took part in it. SLFP had earlier banned party members of taking part in rallies organized by other parties without prior consent from the party.
