Wimal Summoned To Bribery Commission On Namal Rajapaksha's Complaint

Leader of National Freedom Front Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa told media that he was summoned to the bribery commission to question over allegations filed by a ‘NGO related attorney-at-law’ named Namal Rajapaksha.

Giving a statement to the media during lunch break Weerawansa asserted that he was questioned for about three hours about filed allegations.

“Officers said that they want at least two hours after lunch break for investigations. Therefore we hope to present before them after the lunch” he told.

The 2015 Presidential Election Candidate of the Our National Front Attorney-at-Law Namal Ajith Rajapaksha filed a complaint against Wimal Weerawansa in mid-January about assets acquired by Weerawansa during the six years he served as a minister.

Filing the complaint the Attorney-at-Law told Weerawansa had amassed an immeasurable amount of wealth and there are two massive houses under construction in Kaduwela.

Wimal Weerawansa was also questioned by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last month and his wife Shashi Weerawansa was arrested over the charges of obtaining a diplomatic passport in an illegal manner after providing fraudulent documents.

She was later released over two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each and a bail bond of Rs.15,000.

Namal Ajith Rajapaksha received 15,726 votes in the 2015 presidential election and came fourth among the candidates.
