Party leaders of the constituent parties in United People’s Freedom Alliance are to meet today to resolve differences that has arisen within the alliance, local media reported.
UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha recently told media that the Executive Committee of the UPFA will also meet today, before the meeting of party leaders.
Differences within the UPFA have arisen with several parties in the alliance supporting the name of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Ministerial candidate in the next general election. Some SLFP members have also expressed their support to Rajapaksa.
The suggestion to form a national government will also be taken up during the meeting, reports said.
