Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured leaders representing Indian-origin Tamils in Sri Lanka that New Delhi would further engage with them to appreciate their concerns, ‘The Hindu’ reported.
“Mr. Modi told us that he was beginning to learn more about issues of Tamils living in southern Sri Lanka,” Democratic People’s Front Leader Mano Ganesan, part of the delegation that met him in Colombo on Saturday, told ‘The Hindu’.
Modi invited the leaders to New Delhi for further discussions and information, and assured them that after evaluating his two-day visit to Sri Lanka he would positively respond to the proposal put forth by them seeking 20,000 houses for plantation or upcountry Tamils, Ganesan said.
