President Maithripala Sirisena was appointed as the Chairman of United People's Freedom Alliance, at the meeting of its Central Working Committee yesterday.
He is also the Chairman of Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the largest party in the UPFA.
Meanwhile, Janaka Bandara Tennakoon replaced Basil Rajapaksa as the National Organizer of the Alliance. Meanwhile, Mahinda Amaraweera was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the UPFA.
However, Susil Premajayantha and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa will continue to hold office as UPFA General Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
The meeting was held at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute yesterday evening.
