A meeting of Sri Lanka Freedom Party organizers is to be held today at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena.
Party sources said that the meeting was organized to discuss the strategy for the next parliamentary election.
The next general election is expected to be held within several months since the parliament could be dissolved on April 23.
The government promised earlier that the parliament will be dissolved on April 23, at the end of the 100 Days Program. However, some doubts were raised on the issue as the United National Party and the SLFP could not agree on the electoral reforms and constitutional amendments.
However, the process moved forward after Cabinet approval was given to the 19th Amendment to the Constitution yesterday.
Meanwhile, Opposition Members of Parliament are expected to meet tomorrow morning at the Opposition Leader's Office.
