Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Western Provincial Council Member Udaya Gammanpila stated that former president Mahinda Rajapaksa will be Prime Minister after the next General Election.
Speaking to media at Katharagama Kiriwehera premises yesterday afternoon, Gammanpila said that the people were already feeling frustrated at the ‘good governance’ government. People are now feeling the value of the Mahinda Rajapaksa period, he added.
Gammanpila stated that Mahinda Rajapaksa will be convinced to contest the next election and that he will be elected Prime Minister.
However, President Maithripala Sirisena currently is the Chairman of both Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the United People’s Freedom Alliance. In a recent interview with BBC Sandeshaya, Sirisena said that no request has been made from him to make Rajapaksa the Prime Ministerial candidate of the SLFP.
“If a request comes, I will give my answer” Sirisena said.
