President Maithripala Sirisena advised Sri Lanka Freedom Party organizers to be prepared for a general election at any given moment.
The President made this statement during the meeting of SLFP organizers, Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva told media.
Sirisena further asserted that he will lead the party as its leader at the forthcoming election, de Silva said.
This comes contrary to some claims that the president will be ‘apolitical’ at a time of a general election.
President Sirisena, organizers and senior members of SLFP were participated the meeting which was held yesterday evenong (16) at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.
The government had earlier promised to dissolve parliament on April 23 at the completion of the 100 Days Program. The UNP recently took a decision to dissolve the parliament on that day as promised.
