Former secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development, Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka, was summoned to the Financial Crime Investigation Division today, Police Media Unit told ‘Asian Mirror’ a short while ago.

He is being questioned over allegations of financial fraud in the Divi Neguma Department attached to the Ministry, Police Media Unit said further.

Dr. Jayathilaka was appointed as Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development on May 29, 2014.

Meanwhile, former director of Divi Neguma Department, R.K. Ranawaka, was recently questioned over a complaint regarding the expenditure for the Divi Neguma National Convention held on November 21, 2014. It is said that this event cost a staggering amount of Rs 63 million.
