Former president Mahinda Rakapaksa stated that he will never let the division of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

He made this statement when several senior SLFP members met with the former president yesterday evening, local media reports said.

Parliamentarians Susil Premjayantha, W.D.J Seneviratne, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Mahinda Amaraweera, Mahinda Samarasingha, Mahinda Yapa Abewardena and Lasantha Alagiyawanna  were present at the meeting, reports said.

It is learned that they also discussed on the steps that should be taken in order to win the forthcoming general election.

Meanwhile, in a press briefing earlier in the day, SLFP Deputy Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera indicated that the party will take a decision on Mahinda Rajapaksa’s return to politics in the near future.

He said that a decision will be taken on the issue before the next rally is held in support of Rajapaksa on March 26.
