The Government decided to cancel the contract that has already been awarded related to the Bandaranaike International Airport runway, overlay and related works, the Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratne said today.
He made this announcement while addressing the weekly cabinet briefing held at the Government Information Department today (19).
The Cabinet of Ministers took this decision after considering a proposal made by the Minister of Ports, Naval and Aviation Arjuna Ranatunga.
Dr. Senaratne stated that the decision was made since it has been confirmed that the award of this contract to the relevant company has been made without following a competitive tender procedure and without transparency.
