Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa will switch to the Peacock House in Rajagiriya within next two weeks, political sources reported.
It is said that the house is owned by a ‘famous’ businessman.
According to the sources Peacock House will be the Election Operation Office of Rajapaksa for the forthcoming general election.
Meanwhile, a reliable source told ‘Asian Mirror’ that Rajapaksa was using the Sri Abhayarama Temple in Narahenpita as the place where he meets his supporters. A meeting between Rajapaksa and provincial counselors of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kegalle was to be held today at the temple, the source said further.
Recently, speaking at Abhayarama Temple, Rajapaksa said, "this is my office now."
Speculation is rife on the return of Mahinda Rajapaksa to politics. Several weeks ago, Battaramulle Seelarathana Thera offered his party’s leadership to Rajapaksa. Meanwhile there are rumors that he will contest under the ticket of Sri Lanka Labour Party of A.S.P. Liyanage.
However, Rajapaksa recently told media that he was always a Sri Lanka Freedom Party member.
Meanwhile, SLFP Deputy Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera indicated to media yesterday that SLFP will take an important decision on Rajapaksa's political return before March 26.
