A special meeting on electoral reforms will be held today at the parliament premises with the presence of Elections Commissioner and political party leaders.

Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya is to present a report on the steps which should be taken in order to reform the current electoral system, political sources reported.

Accordingly, the report will include statistics on previous parliamentary elections and ways of reforming the electoral system.

However, addressing a meeting recently at parliamentary complex on changing electoral system, the Commissioner stressed that the Delimitation Commission must be put into action to change the electoral map according to any changes in electoral system.

The government has stated that a mixed electoral system will be implemented. However, the exact electoral system is still unclear.
