Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake lashed out at the current situation in the government, objecting to Sri Lanka Freedom Party holding the Leader of the Opposition post in parliament.
Speaking in Parliament a short while ago, Dissanayake stated that there is no opposition since both SLFP and UNP were in government. He asked the Speaker of the Parliament to take a decision to uphold democracy in the country after considering the ‘artificial democracy’ prevailing at present.
Speaking at the parliament, UPFA MP and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna leader Dinesh Gunawardena stated that a solution to this question should be reached before the next sitting of the parliament. A section of MPs yesterday announced that they will name Gunawardena to be the next Opposition Leader.
