'Police Attempting To Settle The Dispute Between Two Media Institutions': Spokesperson

Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the Police were doing their best to settle the dispute that occurred between two media institutions on Monday (24).

Speaking to Asian Mirror, Gunasekara said that three journalists of one media organization had entered the other organization’s office which is located in Maradana. They said they came to get a voice cut, ASP Gunasekara said.

The organization in Maradana complained that the journalists from the other institution entered with no permission. If this was the case, it is an act of trespass, Police Spokesperson said.

However, he added that the three journalists from the other institution have counter-complained that they were attacked while inside the premises of the institution at Maradana. If this is the case, it is also an offence, ASP Gunasekara stated.

He added that the three journalists and the officers of the institution in Maradana are now in Maradana Police Station. The Colombo Central SSP has arrived and is trying to settle the issue, added ASP Gunasekara.

He added that no one has been detained by police as of now.
