Justice Chandra Ekanayake was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court by President Maithripala Sirisena this morning at the Presidential Secretariate.
Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon was also present in the occasion.
Chandra Ekanayake was appointed as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2008. She is also a non-resident Justice of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Fiji from 2012.
Justice Ekanayake has served as Acting CJ even during former president Mahinda Rajapaksa's tenure. She served as Acting CJ once before after president Sirisena came to power.
