Several motorcyclists gathered this morning (29) at the Galle Face Green in Colombo to engage in a protest over the decision  of implementing the ban on full face covering helmets.

Apart from the protest, the protesters will hand over a petition to the Prime Minister's office, media reported.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ruwan Gunasekara on March 25 said that Police will implement the ban on full face covering helmets with effect from April 02.
 

The police earlier decided to ban full face helmets with effect from March 21 in order to stop crimes and burglaries done by people covering their faces using full face helmets.

However, the ban was withdrawn following the instructions of Minister John Amaratunga.
