A complaint was filed at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption this morning by the Sinhala National Front against Minister Rishad Bathiyutheen on allegedly obtaining lands in the Wilapattu National Park.
The Front alleges that the minister had illegally obtained lands in the Wilapattu area to settle local and foreign individuals.
The national convener of the Sinhala National Front Ven. Agurugalle Sri Jinananda Thera added that the minister had received overseas funds to continue his work.
The controversy on alleged encroachment of Wilpattu National Park broke out in early last year, and developed in to a standoff between Bathiudeen and Bodu Bala Sena.
Meanwhile, a complaint was also lodged with the Commission against Bathiudeen in early this month based on a different allegation.
A resident of Mannar area charged that the Minister Bathiudeen has acquired money in an illegal manner. However, Bathiudeen claimed that it was a politically motivated complaint.
