Talks between Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena are underway in Islamabad focused on giving new boost to the existing bilateral ties, Radio Pakistan reported.
The two leaders held one on one meeting which was later followed by delegation level talks. The two countries are discussing ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse fields besides discussing regional and international issues, the report by Radio Pakistan added.
It is expected that the two sides will also sign a number of Memoranda of Understanding and agreements to promote bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
Earlier, the Sri Lankan President was accorded a warm reception at the official reception ceremony on his arrival at the Prime Minister House. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif received the distinguished guest. A contingent of armed forces presented guard of honour to the Sri Lankan President.
