Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Kapila Wijegunawardene was named the chairman of cricket selectors, replacing former chairman Sanath Jayasuriya.
Wijegunawardene heads a four-member selection committee, which was named on Wednesday. All members are former Sri Lanka cricketers.
Former wicket-keeper/batsmen Amal Silva and Brendon Kuruppu and former middle-order batsman Hemantha Wickremaratne are the other members of the committee.
The new committee replaces the five-member panel headed by Jayasuriya that resigned last Friday (3) after serving for two years.
Speculation was rife on the reason for their resignation, which took place soon after Sports Minister Navin Dissanayake appointed an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket. However, the authorities said that there was no interference in the resignation of Jayasuriya-headed panel.
