Former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has lashed out at UPFA MP and Horana District SLFP Chief Organizer Vidura Wickramanayaka when the latter invited her for an event for which former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was also invited.
The reason for this sudden burst of anger was Wickramanayaka’s invitation for a meeting to mark the 55th anniversary of parliamentary politics of his father Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka.
The meeting was to be held at Horana on April 10 and Vidura Wickramanayaka had planned to invite all leading members of SLFP, including President Maithripala Sirisena, former president Chandrika Kumaratunga and former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Kumaratunga had blasted Wickramanayaka for inviting her to a meeting where Rajapaksa was also expected. She had asked him point blank whether he was naïve enough to expect her at a meeting where Mahinda Rajapaksa was to be given a front row seat."Don't try to teach me politics," the former President had told the Parliamentarian.
Without stopping at that, Kumaratunga has also telephoned her former Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka, probably to complain about his son's "behaviour".
