Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay arrived in Sri Lanka a short while ago. His visit marks the first bilateral visit to Sri Lanka by a Bhutanese Head of Government.
“Great to be in Sri Lanka. This is Bhutan's first official bilateral visit to Sri Lanka by head of government” Tobgay tweeted earlier this morning.
The Bhutanese PM arrived at the invitation of President Maithripala Sirisena. He is expected to hold discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and several other Sri Lankan government heads.
Tshering Tobgay, the leader of Bhutan's People's Democratic Party, came to power in July 2013 at the second General Election in the history of the country.
Bhutan, known as the "land of the Thunder Dragon" is a Constitutional Monarchy. The Head of State is King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
