Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa will file a complaint at the Bribery Commission this afternoon.
Rajapaksa’s Media Coordination Secretary Rohan Weliwita told Asian Mirror that the former president’s lawyers will visit the Bribery Commission to file a counter-complaint against the complaint against Rajapaksa already filed at the commission.
Weliwita pointed out that the complaint against Rajapaksa stated that if the Bribery Commission does not summon Rajapaksa, steps will be taken against the commission. Weliwita added that this statement was an attempt to influence the Bribery Commission.
Bribery Commission recently summoned the former president to record a statement on appointing Tissa Attanayake as a cabinet Minister during an election period. However, the Commission decided to cancel the summons after a protest in the parliament. It was agreed that the officials of the commission will visit Rajapaksa to record a statement.
