Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said that Cabinet approval has been given to the Right to Information Bill and the National Audit Bill.
The RTI Bill will be presented to the parliament as an urgent bill, he told media a short while ago.
The Bill also lists the information that would not be divulged under the RTI. These include information pertaining to privacy of a person, on national security or could damage national economy. Furthermore, information pertaining to trade secrets, medical status of a person and information that falls under clause 126 of Evidence Act are also in this list.
RTI Bill and National Audit Bill were important promises of the 100 Days Program.
