Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Committee unanimously decided to vote for the 19th Amendment to the Constitution a short while ago.
This decision was taken at the special meeting of the Central Committee which was held at Sri Lanka Foundation.
This development comes shortly after President Maithripala sirisena’s request from all MPs to support the 19th Amendment. He made this request at the UPFA convention at Viharamahadevi Park this evening.
The decision of the SLFP removes the greatest stumbling block against the passing of the 19th Amendment. The 19th Amendment is most likely to be approved on April 28, following this decision.
