Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Thursday (23) slammed the ‘trend’ of protesting in front of the Bribery Commission when ‘certain people’ were summoned to record statements.
Addressing a press briefing Dissanayake criticize these protests, saying that ‘thieves are going to protect thieves, their own clan’
“They handed over a letter to president asking to remove Director General of the Bribery Commission. More than half the parliamentarians who signed had been summoned to the Bribery Commission to record statements.” JVP leader asserted.
It is hilarious to see people who have numerous allegations make petitions to remove the Director General of the bribery commission, he stated.
There were several protests were held against summoning members of ‘Rajapaksa Family’ to the bribery commission in this week. The commission had to cancel the summons given to former president Mahinda Rajapaksa due to strong protest by some UPFA parliamentarians. Meanwhile, a protest was also held near the Bribery Commission against the summoning of former secretary of defence Gotabya Rajapaksa on Thursday.
