Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa visited his younger brother, former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, at the Colombo National Hospital a short while ago.

Basil Rajapaksa, who was arrested and remanded on Wednesday night, was admitted to Prison Hospital at Welikada. He was transferred to the paying wards of the Colombo National Hospital on Thursday.

Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday said that he had warned his brother not to return to Sri Lanka because there was a risk of him being remanded.

Basil Rajapaksa was charged under the Offenses Against Public Property Act over alleged financial fraud in the Divi Naguma Department.
