A march in support of the 19th Amendment and the Sathyagraha campaign by Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera started at the Ayurveda Junction in Rajagiriya a short while ago.

Several organizations such as Purawasi Balaya and Aluth Parapura have extended their support to the march and the sathyagraha campaign. The marchers are heading towards the parliament circus. Heavy traffic was reported in all roads leading towards parliament due to the protest.

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga also joined the march.

The decision to launch the sathyagraha campaign was taken during a meeting of National Movement for Social Justice on Sunday (26).

President Maithripala Sirisena started the debate on the 19th Amendment at Parliament this morning and called upon all MPs to support the historic decision of approving the 19th Amendment.

The debate on the 19th Amendment will take place on Monday and Tuesday and the vote is expected on Tuesday (28) evening.
