Sections related to media in the 19th Amendment will be removed, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe said in the Parliament this morning.
Several individuals including former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, UPFA MPs Dinesh Gunawardena and Rajiva Wijesinghe had alleged that the 19th Amendment contained some to hinder the media industry through some new sections of the Amendment.
President Maithripala Sirisena began the second reading of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in Parliament this morning. The vote on the amendment will be taken Tuesday afternoon.
